What are the differences between the Netstar LA9041/LA9042 and Nextech LA9038/LA9039 GPS trackers? – Electus Distribution

These two tracking systems allow you to keep tabs on a vehicle location via the 4G Phone network.
Both systems offer OBDII plug-in trackers and hard-wired trackers for an up-front hardware cost.
They each have their own separate tracking systems that are accessed via Apps or the internet.
Netstar trackers are the latest tracking technology with easy setup and no configuration needed.
The Nextech trackers are being phased out, and their existing trackers will continue to function.

Ongoing costs:

Netstar trackers include a 4G SIM with a 3-month trial, and cost $14.95 per tracker per month after that
Nextech trackers have no subscription, however you need to setup & pay for a SMS/data SIM at a telco

Setup:

Netstar trackers are pre-configured - just scan a QR code in their App to activate a tracker
Nextech trackers require you to setup the telco SIM APN gateway via SMS commands

Interface:

Netstar trackers have an App for tracking (My Netstar Australia)
Nextech trackers have an App (NextechGPS), http://www.response1gps.com, and can respond via SMS

Functionality:

Netstar trackers report location only using 4G network data
Nextech trackers report location via 4G and SMS, have shock alarm and kill-switch options (LA9038 only)

Ownership:

Netstar trackers are locked to their username- & password-protected App account
Nextech trackers can be accessed by anyone who has been given the tracker serial or phone number

Reporting:

Netstar trackers have a visual track in the App, and a PDF/CSV list of trip distance, starts & stops
Netstar trips can be flagged as business or personal, so you can easily grab KM info for expense claims
Nextech trackers have a visual track in the App and website, and a downloadable KML file for mapping

Tracking multiple vehicles:

Both systems support seeing multiple vehicle trackers in one interface, ideal for small fleets
Netstar additional trackers just need to be scanned in the Netstar app to group them
Nextech trackers can be grouped by sending a request to support with photo of serial number
