Replacement cables?
- The mains power cable is PS4106 (1.8m) or PS4105 (5m)
- The red-black Mini-Anderson DC cable to SB50 grey Anderson is PP0016
- For cigarette socket charging, use PP0016 with PT4446
- To connect Solar Panels with MC4 plugs, use PP0016 with PS5122
DC charging FAQ
The power station seems to charge slowly from my car
Cars usually have a 10Amp fuse inline with their cigarette lighter sockets - to avoid blowing this fuse, the power stations will limit their power draw to around 10A (~100w) when they detect the voltage from the DC source is less than 15v.
If your DC voltage is higher than 15v, the MB4104 and above can draw up to 15A.
Connecting to mains AC power instead will give you a charge rate more than 10x higher than what a car cigarette socket can provide.
How many solar panels can I connect to the power stations?
You'll need to check the Open-circuit voltage and Amps at max power ratings on the panel nameplate, and multiply it by the number of panels. The total volts and Amps needs to be less than the max below.
MB4102: 80v & 10A max
MB4104, MB4105, MB4106 MB4108: 150v & 15A max
As an example, for this panel below:
MB4102: Up to 3 panels in series (3x 24v = max 72v - will be current-limited to 10A)
MB4104/5/6/8: Up to 6 panels in series (6x 24v = max 144v @ 12A)
Can I leave solar panels connected overnight?
Best practice is to disconnect solar panels at night.
Why this matters: Solar panels can make a small amount of voltage at night. The power station will remain in an "awake" or powered-on state when there is voltage present on cables connected to the DC input.
If the solar panels generate enough voltage to keep the station awake, but they don't produce enough Amps to charge it, the station's battery will slowly discharge, due to the drain from being powered-on.
The power station beeps
Some power stations will make a beep sound when you press their buttons, or connect / disconnect devices or power sources to them. This is a safety feature.
If you have solar panels connected and the power output of the panels drops off, the unit will beep to warn you. Solar panels are best only used in periods of constant sunlight, and you should not leave them connected overnight or in places where the sunlight will be interrupted, such as under trees.
AC charging FAQ
The power station seems to charge slowly from AC mains
The station has both fast-charge and slow-charge modes. You can change the mode as follows:
In the App: Disconnect any power input. Go to Settings, choose the charging mode.
Via the front panel buttons:
- Disconnect any power input, AC ports must be turned off.
- Hold down IOT and USB buttons for several seconds.
- H or L will be displayed, toggle by pressing the IOT button.
- To confirm, hold the Power button for several seconds.
- Screen will flash and then SUC will be displayed.
- Press the Power button for several seconds again to return to main screen.
Note: MB4110 / MB4111 have a rocker switch above the AC inlet that sets the charge speed.
The power station won't charge from AC or DC inputs
You may find the display will light up only briefly when you press the power button to turn the unit on. It may also display a message E024. This can happen if you drain them too far or they go flat in storage.
Reset the circuit breaker - disconnect all cables, and press the button below the mains input socket.
If this does not help, apply at least 50v DC to the DC Input (red/black ports on the side above the mains input) from a solar panel or connected series of solar panels for a while (make sure it receives no more than 80v DC). A lab power supply capable of 50v DC & 3A, or four 12v batteries in series, can also do this. Red plug is positive, black plug is negative.
DC power should only need to be applied for a minute or two. This will reset the protection mode, and the unit can then be connected to mains power. When you hear the fans start to spin, the unit is successfully charging from mains, and the DC power input can be disconnected.
If your unit does not charge after doing this, please visit your seller.
The MB4110 or MB4111 will not charge from mains
Make sure the blue circuit breaker switch next to the AC input socket is in the UP position.
If the unit display turns on, but still does not charge from AC, the battery may be depleted.
Connect A/C, and then connect the red/black DC input lead from the power station to either your car or your solar panels and leave it for a while. The unit will resume charging from AC once the battery has recovered sufficient charge from the DC input.
If your unit does not charge from mains after doing this, please visit your seller.
AC Output FAQ
Why does the AC power output turn off?
The AC output will turn off in two scenarios - the load is too small (e.g. a 10w plugpack), or 6 hours has passed since it was turned on. Keeping the AC output active is a constant power drain, so it will turn off by default after 6 hours to preserve the battery capacity.
You can change the default timeout for the standby and AC outputs in the App under Settings.
MB4110 - changing the A/C standby time
Turn the unit ON with the Power button
Press and hold the AC button above the middle 230v socket for 5 seconds
When the menu below appears, tap the AC button to switch between 4 hours or OFF
Press the Power button to save
